The proportions for the Danish flag, Dannebrog, are established in the Ordinance on the Flags and Banners of Merchant Ships and Commercial Vessels, as well as the chartered Companies’ Ships and Pennants and Flags of July 11, 1748:
The Danish Merchant Flag shall be of a hue crimson, bearing a white Cross unparted; and upon the taking of the breadth of the Flag at the Pole as the Standard for Proportion, the white Cross shall occupy a portion of one-seventh of the said breadth; the $2$nd crimson Quadrants to the rear shall form a perfect square, whilst the fore crimson Quadrants shall extend to six-fourths of the said rear Quadrants.
